ADOPTION PROCESS
STEP 1: COMPLETE AN ADOPTER PROFILE
The first step is to complete an adopter profile. Adopter profiles can be filled out online and are reviewed same-day (as long as they are received during business hours).

STEP 2: SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT
Once your profile is reviewed, you can schedule a Meet & Greet appointment through our appointment booking page or by calling the shelter at 262-782-9261.
STEP 3: MEET ANIMAL(S)
During a Meet & Greet appointment, you will work with a member of our Adoption Team who will guide you through the matching process, introduce you to potential matches, and share information about each animal’s history, health, and behavior.
Appointments are up to 45 minutes long. Most adopters meet one to three animals during their visit, depending on fit and availability. Additional time may not be available.
STEP 4: ADOPT
When an appropriate match is identified and approved, adoptions are completed the same day for adopters who feel ready to move forward. There is no obligation to adopt, but we are not able to place animals on hold.
Additional Adoption Information
We encourage all household members to meet an adoptable animal prior to adoption. For some animals, this may be required as part of the matching process.
If you are adopting a dog and currently have a dog at home, we encourage you to bring them along to meet their potential new companion. Introductions may be required depending on the individual animal.
If you feel ready to adopt following your Meet & Greet appointment, we encourage you to come prepared. Dogs are required to leave the shelter with a leash and collar, and cats and small animals must be transported in a secure carrier. If you do not already have these items, or are unsure if you will be adopting, supplies are available for purchase in our retail area for your convenience.

Adoption Discount Programs: Military Adoption Program Senior Adoption Program
A 5% sales tax is added to all adoption fees. Adopters are required to pay the adoption fee tax on animals with sponsored adoption fees. Cash or card only for all fees (no checks).
