ADOPTION PROCESS
STEP 1: COMPLETE AN APPLICATION
The first step is to complete our adoption application. Applications can be filled out online and are reviewed same-day (as long as they are received during business hours).

STEP 2: SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT
If your application was approved, you will receive an email with a link to schedule a Meet and Greet Appointment. Once you application is approved, you can also call the shelter at 262-782-9261 to set up a Meet and Greet Appointment.
STEP 3: MEET ANIMAL(S)
During your Meet and Greet Appointment, you will work with one of our adoption counselors who will introduce you to an animal and tell you their medical and behavioral information. Meet and Greet slots are one hour long and you are allowed to meet up to three animals.
Step 4: ADOPT
We do same-day adoptions. So after your Meet and Greet Appointment is concluded, we will go through the adoption paperwork with you. You are not required to adopt an animal after your Meet and Greet Appointment if you do not feel the animal is a good fit or you need more time to make a decision. We DO NOT put animals on hold.
Side Notes
If you are adopting a dog and have another dog in your household, we encourage you bring in your dog to meet their potential new companion (this may be required for certain dogs).
*The shelter is closed on holidays and the last day of every month.

- Certificate of Vet Inspection (CVI)
- Heartworm test

- Rabies vaccination (4+months)
- Microchip
- Spay/neuter surgery

- Distemper/Bordetella vaccinations
- De-worming
- Ears & nails checked
CAT ADOPTION FEE INCLUDES:
- FeLV Test (6 months and under)
- FeLV/FIV Combo Test (6+ months)
- External parasite preventative
- Rabies vaccination for (4+months)
- Microchip
- Spay/neuter surgery
- Free health exam certificate *
- Distemper vaccination
- De-worming
- Ears & nails checked
Adoption Discount Programs: Military Adoption Program Senior Adoption Program
A 5% sales tax is added to all adoption fees. Adopters are required to pay the adoption fee tax on animals with sponsored adoption fees. Cash or card only for all fees (no checks).
