FOUND A LOST PET?
Under Wisconsin law (Wis. State Statute 173.13(9)c), all stray animals must be taken to the facility or entity contracted by the municipality where the animal was found, to ensure that owners have the chance to reclaim their lost pets. Taking an animal to a facility outside of the area it was found is not only violating the law, but may result in that pet not getting back to their family.
EBHS requires a valid ID when bringing a found animal to our shelter.
Elmbrook Humane Society is responsible for housing stray/lost animals in the following municipalities within Waukesha County:
- City of Brookfield
- Town of Brookfield
- Village of Elm Grove
- Village of Nashotah
- Village of Chenequa
If you are outside of one of our service areas, please contact the nearest local humane society or police department.
